About the walk

This trip includes free travel from the Belper/Matlock area, or at an agreed location on route. North Cave Wetlands is a nature reserve that is rising from the ashes of agriculture & quarrying. It's a prime example of what can be achieved when conservation & industry work together. A mixture of shallow and deep-water lakes that include muddy margins and islands, reedbeds, grassy banks, meadows & hedgerows. Nice easy walking and six hides make this a great place for autumn & winter birdwatching, whatever the weather. A hotspot for wildfowl with good flocks of ducks and geese. Water rails and bitterns can sometimes be seen at the water’s edge. Facilities Include : Toilets, refreshments, hides & a picnic area.
