Cromford Canal - Looking for Hawfinch

About the walk

Starting at Cromford we will search the elusive Hawfinch. Patience is required on this outing as these birds don't always appear. The longer we wait the better chance we will have. We will also check out St. Mary's Church yard and the banks of the River Derwent. If they don't show up we will walk along the canal as far as Aqueduct Cottage and back. Around 5km in length this walk is a wonderful way to start the year. A maximum of 6 people on this walk.. We've recorded 44 bird species in January along this walk so who knows what could turn up. Parking charges apply, the Ring-go app is needed. Or you can park in the Wharf Car Park next door and pay with a card.
