What can you do at Global BirdFair? The Global Birdfair 2026 is the largest wildlife and conservation festival in Europe, scheduled to take place from Friday 10 July to Sunday 12 July 2026. Often called the "Glastonbury of Birdwatching," the event brings together thousands of birdwatchers, conservationists, and nature enthusiasts from around the world. Key Event Details Location: Lyndon Top (near Oakham, Rutland, LE15 8RN, UK), overlooking Rutland Water. Opening Times: 9:00 am to 5:30 pm daily (closing at 5:00 pm on Sunday), with evening events and catering extending until 9:00 pm on Friday and Saturday. 2026 Conservation Project Each year, the fair raises significant funds for international conservation projects. For 2026, the chosen project is "Preventing Island Extinctions," focusing on the island nation of São Tomé and Príncipe. Flagship Species: The Dwarf Ibis (Bostrychia bocagei), a critically endangered bird with a population of fewer than 2,000 individuals. Goal: Supporting BirdLife International to reduce threats to endemic species and build local conservation capacity. What to Expect Exhibitors: Roughly 300 exhibitors across seven large marquees, including Naturetrek, Park Cameras, and Swarovski Optik. Activities: Expert-led lectures, workshops, nature walks, and a dedicated Puffin art marquee. Gear & Optics: Opportunities to test and buy the latest binoculars, telescopes, and camera equipment in the Falcon and Hobby marquees. Global Birdfair Auction: A fundraising auction in the Teal Marquee where visitors can bid on unique wildlife experiences and art.
